The ceiling is a great place to store you SUP board, considering the their size compared to most other boards. Ceiling SUP racks allow for direct storage overhead, allowing you to free up some space, all the while protecting your SUP board from scrapes and dings. Below is our list of our favorite and Best SUP Ceiling Racks on the market.

Gatekeeper Ceiling Surfboard Racks 300x184 Best Sup Ceiling Racks

1 . Gatekeeper Ceiling Rack

This SUP ceiling rack is our top pic and stores you SUP in a traditional (horizontal) position. It is also expandable allowing you to purchase extra racks and simple bolt them on to each other. The only down side with this rack is that you first have to purchase a rack base, shown in the picture above, and then the SUP expandable rack, which is then bolted on. The SUP expandable rack is much wider than the rack base. However, other surfboards can be stored in the first rack. It is even a great place for your paddles.

2. The T-Bone Ceiling Rack

This rack comes in as our second chose and is quite convenient despite it’s rather large size. The T-Bone Rack is also fully adjustable both vertically and horizontally allowing you to hone in on all your storage needs. Installation is also a snap, with a simple 2 bolt per rack system, like the gatekeeper, which makes it very quick and easy. Once bolted just adjust the for your ceiling height and your good to go.

Cor Ceiling Rack Best Sup Ceiling Racks

3. Cor Surf Ceiling Rack

The Cor Surf Ceiling Rack comes in at number 3. This SUP rack is one of the most popular for a single storage unit. This rack will hold any size SUP and has a very simple design. We only rank it low because it’s not expandable. However, this rack is much cheaper than the Gatekeeper and T-Bone at around $40 bucks.

Rocky Rack Ceiling Rack Best Sup Ceiling Racks

4. Rocky Rack Ceiling Rack

Our last and final SUP ceiling rack is the Rocky Rack. This rack is near identical to the COR surf rack. Same looks and same price, purchasing between the COR and the Rocky will come down to your own personal choice of brand.

This rack has been discontinued, so we have added another rack to the offering.

5. With a thinner design and nicer foam, the Calfin SUP Ceiling rack is a more expensive but sleeker alternative to the COR ceiling rack.

Choosing Ceiling Surfboard Racks

14d51fe6f3e3b71 Choosing Ceiling Surfboard RacksNeed extra space? If you live in a apartment or somewhere with limited space, a ceiling surfboard rack is an awesome idea. Here are a few to get you pointed in the right direction.

T-Rax Ceiling Surfboard Racks are made of aluminum with a black satin brushed finish.  All hardware for mounting your racks is included.   No worries about scratching your boards, the racks are covered with quality foam padding.  They come in one board racks for $100 through to three boards for $120.  Here is what they look like.

Another novel idea is the Surfboard Wall or ceiling sling. It’s a practical method of storing or displaying your board.  Where other wall racks will jut out, if you are pressed for space, the sling will fits nice and snug against a wall and anyone can install it. It consists of two straps and two good sized screws to affix it to the ceiling.  Priced at around $10, if you tight on space and tight on cash – this could be what you are looking for. Here is what a sling looks like, this particular one can be purchased on Amazon.

The ceiling rack for surfboards, by Gatekeeper, is a nice neat modular design and will hold two surfboards or more.  The ceiling rack will store your boards in a horizontal position, and you can access your boards from each side, rather than having to slide them out.  The unit simply bolts together and you can add more racks as required, depending on space. If you have a high ceiling such as an exposed beam ceiling as in a shed, you could possibly had up to 4 racks, or a total of 120lbs.  There’s plenty of space in between each rack.  A neat part of the design is the turned up ends of the rack, so you can be sure your board is not going to slip off. This is one is one of my favorites. It can be found at http://www.esurfboardracks.com/products/gatekeeper-ceiling-rack

Storing your surfboards out of the way need not be a complex issue, there’s heaps of different ways to store or display your boards that are tidy and look great. Happy Surfing.
