Surfboard Racks for Scooters
Scooter surfboard racks are very similar to bike racks and pretty much work in the same way. Unfortunately, they are not interchangeable. At least, I haven’t found any that are, unless your alter the rack itself. Surfboard racks for your bike, bolt around the seat, while scooter racks actually bolt into the top frame section of the scooter. In other words, bike racks have a vertical clamp, while the scooter surfboard rack is horizontal. This is the only main difference between the two.
The most popular scooter rack by far is the Carver Moped Surfboard rack. This rack bolts down into the back frame just behind the seat. It is a also a little more expensive that the regular bike racks. I haven’t be able to find many other scooter racks that compete with this rack. Most of the ones I have seen on scooters are usually custom made by their owners. If you are in the market for a scooter rack I would suggest trying Craigslist. I have seen some surfboard racks on there for much cheaper than listing price.

Hmm, ever see board racks for motorcycles? Im dying to see a sport bike one before i make my own. Only problem is wind since my surfboards are larger in size.
thanks and great site!
You should do more research into this topic. There are other companies on the market that also make scooter racks. I have owned both a Carver Scooter and Carver Bike Rack and In my opinion, I would steer away from these.
Since both styles of rack are a “single mount” positioned below or behind the operator I found that if a gust of wind hits you it will “steer” the vehicle for you. Furthermore, with the “bike unit” you must hold the board when you ride so that it won’t wobble. As for the scooter unit, I have actually had that front wheel lift up while driving through 10 mph winds. Finally, it has been my experience with these racks that they are poorly thought out. They maybe consumer friendly as far as installation, but when it comes to safety they get a thumbs down from me. Seek out a “two mount, two arm system. These I found are the safest. Look at it this way…getting to the beach for a surf is half the fun. And the best part, “two point systems are built in the USA and not in China” Better design and materials plus you get to support the us economy
how do they do it in indo? seems like its a 2 point system and they work just fine over there. it’s gotta be cheap too..
I haven’t had any problem thus far with my carver bike rack. Then again, I don’t use it that often and have never had to ride very far. That is insane that your scooter has been lifted off the ground. I have heard good things about the two mount systems. I do indeed need to do more research on these racks.
bike racks could really help you secure your bike when you leave it `;:
